For 19 years, 7 rural communities not willing to take no for an answer presevered, worked against all odds, and are finally seeing their community dream come true. Today, we prepare to move our unique outdoor recreation programs into a brand new multi-million dollar sports facility with pride and excitement. Our heartwarming story goes like this... Together, our communities have raised over one million dollars in local fundraising (much of it door-to-door) to support a health and recreation complex based in Fredericton Junction, serving the Village of Tracy and the LSDs of Tracyville, Hoyt, Wirral-Enniskillen, and Clarendon. We are participating in a four million dollar ACOA agreement and have received an additional one million dollars from the Rgional Development Corporation. An arena mortgage will cover the remainder of our costs. Our steel building costs increased by $300,000 before we could award the contract. To offset this unexpected cost, the community organized the drywall, t-bar ceilings, and painting to be done by local volunteers, a cost savings of over $650,000. The 550 children of the Sunbury West area have never had an indoor ice surface to enjoy and are excited to see the steel shell finally complete. The rest of the population of 4,000 are anxious to start the health and wellness activities related to the ice surface, bowling alley, walking track, exercise room, and countless new opportunities and health initiatives. Generous contributions from local residents clearly indicat their support. It also reiterates they clearly see the need for this multi-puropse complex to accommodate sporting, recreational, tourism and business activities in our rural areas. The complex includes an NHL size ice surface with seating for 400, a 6-lane bowling alley, a walking track, a canteen and general purpose room with an emphasis on local heritage and sponsors. Our Wall of Honour will recognize all donors while other walls in the complex will represent each of the 7 rural communities through a personalized story and mural. Personalized tiles and arena seats will also add a very special touch. Opportunities, benefits, and spinoffswill be endless. We will become a 'growing community' with incoming revenue supporting all local busines owners and opportunities for much needed community growth. With hard work comes a great sense of community spirit and pride. Working uphill, with countless unexpected challenges, has made us strong. We appreciate the true meaning of 'the power of perseverance'. In the meantime, we started our co-ed hockey program outside. It has grown in 3 years to 150 kids and 13 teams, possibly one of the largest outdoor programs in the province. We take pride in this program, in our kids, and in our strong volunteer base, and are eager to move into the complex, located on the same property. With a low registration fee of $25 per child, and an equipment loan-out service, we turn no child away. We demonstrate fair play, good team values, and fun. Our community hosts an annual 'Come Home Week' every August. This summer will also see the grand opening celebration of the biggest occurance in our history...the opening of the Tri-County Complex, with retired NHLer and Tri-County Complex Honourary Chair, Danny Grant. We demonstrate our love and passion for sports and would use the $25,000 for our significant start-up costs transitioning from outdoor to indoor programs. Our league champions and long-standing team rivalries have definitely arrive within our outdoor programs and will grow with our countless indoor opportunities. We are very proud to become home of the "Tri-County Rivercats". It would be an honour to welcome KRAFT, TSN, your lights, cameras, and action to our community and to our brand new facility. It would be the pefect ending to the perfect story. Help us show the world that dreams really do come true.

A great example of undaunted will and determination exhibited by residents of several small communities to turn a dream into a reality. This facility will breathe new life into and revitalize the minds , bodies and spirits of those in these communities who have waited for so long for their dream to come true !! Well done and congratulations to all involved!! You should be very proud of your accomplishment.

The Tri-County Complex has made a HUGE difference for so many people, especially our younger generation. The people living in this region knew how to come together, have a goal and reach it with a combined effort. As the Chairperson of the Canada-wide Canadian Tire "Jump Start program, I am pleased to have played a role in this effort. Getting our youths across our great Nation "active" is important for everyone, they are our future. We never want $$ getting in the way of getting our youth active. The Jump Start program played a role in getting kids in this Tri-County region "active", and they still are today with this wonder new facility. Kraft & Hockey Night In Canada would experience the benefits and greatness of beina a "Canadian" by considering this facility to be honoured and I will be more than happy, as an elected official of the "Capital" city of New Brunswick to do all I can to make it happen!!
