Thank you KRAFT CELEBRATION for providing the East Hants Curling Association with an opportunity to be part of your community program and just as important a chance to win a whopping $25,000.00. Now let me tell you why you must select LANTZ, NOVA SCOTIA. I am a Director for the East Hants Curling Association and since 1988 this rural group of communities of about 21,500 have been working towards constructing a Curling Facility, stand alone, four sheets. There was an expansion plan in place since 1993 and just recently in March 2008 the Curling Facility was deleted from the local Sportsplex expansion plans. A group of Curlers picked up the torch and continued the drive to have a Curling Facility constructed as we will not be denied. The East Hants Curling Assocation was formed on 30 December 2008 and a Board Of Directors have been a driving force since March 2008. The East Hants Curling Association have submitted to the East Hants Municipal Council a Business Plan for a $2.7 million dollar facility. We have also submitted a letter to obtain land which is owned by the municipality to construct the facility. Recently the Municipality and Province of Nova Scotia provide some seed money to have a firm provide schematic drawings and a cost to operate and construct so that we may take another giant step to realizing a 20 year dream of the East Hants Community. Our goal is to be open and operational by September 2010. The East Hants Community has no curling facility and the community only as one ice surface. There are over 420 community members very interested in the Curling Facility with a data base of a confirmed 321 curlers who would be curling today if there was a local facility. The nearest facility is about a 30 minute drive in the winter months: therefore, the need for a facility in the fastest growing community of Nova Scotia. The East Hants Curling Association is determined to provide a facility for all ages and genders: youth, seniors, handicapped and working members of the East Hants Community. The facility is intended to be accessible to all and truly a community facility that is intended to be used for other community events. I, with humility and understanding your commitment to Canada’s rural communities would implore you to select LANTZ as one of the 10 communities. The East Hants Curling Association’s bid to gain funding from the Municipal, Provincial and Federal governments would be greatly enhanced if there was a Canada wide promotion sponsored by the East Hants Curling Association. The $25,000.00 would certainly go a long way in helping to fund the Curling Facility and the community would be forever grateful that a business as prominent as Kraft supported the local efforts to make this 20 year dream a reality. So to Kraft I say, give the East Hants Curling Assocation a chance to put LANTZ on the map and we guarantee you a good time and a tremendous celebration in this community in which you will see support at an all time high. KRAFT, please give LANTZ a chance to realize our dream, your contribution would be enormous and the publicity for both the Community and the Curling Facility would be priceless. Thank you and please pick LANTZ, LANTZ and LANTZ.

What a great opportunity for the East Hants Curling Association and the local community to get behind this energetic group of people to make a Curling Facility a reality for the East Hants area. What a party East Hants could have with TSN in town and the East Hants Curling Association could be awarded $25,000.00 toward the building of the facility. This would also provide great publicity for the East Hants area all across Canada. Go Curling Go.

Small communities like Lantz are the heart & soul of the Maritimes! A local curling arena would do much to enhance the sense of community and belonging.

Wow, what a great idea.!! We can promote East Hants to the whole country and at the same time have a chance to win some money that we can put towards building our long-awaited curling facility. My husband and I signed a petition in favor of having a curling rink in our community way back in the 1980's and we have been eagerly anticipating it's construction ever since. A facility ,such as is planned, would be great for the whole community. It would benefit residents of all ages and abilities. Even the business community would benefit, as curling offers lots of opportunity for net-working. Curling facilities are well known as being volunteer driven organizations...what community wouldn't want this type of activity right here in our backyard. The Lakeshore Club in Sackville recently hosted the Canadian Wheelchair competition and it was a great success, showcasing Sackville and area to the rest of the country. Opportunities such as this, which allows us to promote the many and varied benefits of living in East Hants, rarely come our way. We all stand to gain much with the addition of a Curling facility in the fast growing corridor area of East Hants.

Lantz, an urban community located next door to the Stanfield International Airport and only a short drive from Halifax welcomes the opportunity of being home to the only curling facility in East Hants. The corridor communities which surround Lantz have been described as the fastest growing area in Nova Scotia and with this growth comes the increasing drive for recreation suitable to all our residence. The curling community of Lantz and area thank TSN and Kraft for this funding opportunity.

With alll the bad news in the media today, it was great to see this contest advertised on TSN during the NHL playoffs. It offers a great opportunity for small groups all over our great country. The community of East Hants has shown such tremendous growth over the past few years that we have outgrown our recreational facilities. All ages could benefit from a curling facility in Lantz. Take a drive through our countryside and admire the pastoral views, its many rivers and lakes plus lovely landscapes and you will see why so many people now live in our community. Even Sydney Crosby chose to make East Hants his summer home. Not to mention our close proximity to an International Airport and the vibrant city of Halifax,,,which is well known for being a great host city for sporting events. We are proud of what our community has to offer. We look forward to having TSN and Kraft come for a visit.
